What this is

The Nisaea guide library is reference information for aquarium keepers, compiled from established practice, published sources, and field experience. It's written to help you understand what's happening in your system and make your own decisions.

What this isn't

It isn't veterinary advice, medical advice, or professional consultation. Nisaea can't examine your animals, test your water, or see your system. Guidance that suits most tanks may not suit yours.

Before acting on treatment or dosing information

Verify doses, concentrations, and durations against the product label before use. Product formulations differ between manufacturers and between regions, and the same active ingredient can require very different dosing depending on the form. Where a figure in a guide differs from a product's own instructions, follow the product.

Where an aquatic veterinarian is available to you, consult one. Veterinary care for ornamental fish exists in many regions and is frequently underused.

Where the hobby disagrees

Reef keeping contains genuine unresolved disagreements. Where a topic is contested, our guidance says so and explains the reasoning rather than presenting one position as settled. Treat those sections as a starting point for your own judgment.

Human safety

Some content covers venomous animals, potent toxins, chemicals, and electrical work. That material is included because the hazards are real and under-discussed. It is not medical advice. If you are injured or exposed, seek medical attention and tell the clinician what you were exposed to.

Decisions about your animals, your equipment, and your safety are yours. Nisaea provides information and monitoring; it doesn't assume responsibility for outcomes.
